Are The Maybelline Baby lips Really Worth The Hype & Which Collection Is Better?
So Maybelline first released the original baby lips in or around 2011. The first collection had the following colors / or flavors Quenched, Peppermint, Cherry Me, Grape Vine, Peach Kiss, Pink Punch! They are very moisturizing and the colored ones had a tint while the first two are actually clear but make your lips feel fresh and alive. The collection was a big hit in my eyes considering I have almost owned the entire collection and I used up the first two and still need Cherry me. They came with a lot of product and were around $2.99 to $3.99 depending on where you went.
After, Maybelline decides to come out with a collection called "Electro". Although the colors seemed fun and summery some didn't have good pigmentation :/. This collection was released around the summer of 2013. They had the following colors / or flavors in Pink Shock, Fierce N Tangy, Berry Bomb, Oh! Orange, Minty Sheer, Strike A Rose. I was hoping for a better pigmentation but the smells were amazing. Sadly these weren't as moisturizing as the original collection. These were around the same price ($2.99-$3.99) depending on the store you went. I really liked Fierce N Tangy and Oh! Orange just because the rest were so similar to the original baby lips.
Next Maybelline surprises us with another collection of baby lips. This collection was strictly for chapped lips since it did have medication in the lip balm which sucked and I didn't pick any of these up for that reason. The collection was called "Dr. Rescue"! The colors / or flavors that they came out with are Too Cool, Pink Me Up, Just Peachy, Soothing Sorbet, Coral Crave, And Lastly Berry Soft. This collection I don't know much about but seeing swatches and smelling my friends this collection was not my favorite. Yeah, they had a tint of color but not as a good pigmentation as the original collection. If you guys want to write your opinions as well down below go for it (: This collection went from $3.00-$4.49 which is a little higher than the first two collections released.
I also heard Maybelline came out with a limited edition Pink'd collection. Sadly, I missed out ): and you can only find them on Ebay, and or amazon. I have no further information regarding any of the baby lips limited edition ones because I personally don't own them. Sorry in advance. But you all are more than welcome to leave any comments you have / had on the limited edition baby lips!
Lastly, Maybelline has just released this year July 2014 a new collection of baby lips called "Crystal". I went straight to the store and picked up the two that actually caught my attention. These baby lips have very pretty and sparkly packaging! The pigmentation is not as good this time but it does have shimmer in the product. The colors / or flavors range from Pink Quartz, Twinkling Taupe, Mirrored Mauve, Crystal Kiss, Beam Of Blush, Gleaming Coral. Now I can tell you I am getting kind of sad that the color ranges for these baby lips stick around to only nudes, pinks, oranges and purples :/ I wish they had more reds and like more colored selections. This collection was rough on my lips! I will be posting swatches of all the ones I have and which is my favorite to least favorite but the prices are depending on where you go which I will also have the price info in the next post.
Overall Review: I really think the original baby lips won for me considering the pigmentation is what got me and the cute names and the different color choices. I don't like the way they repeated smells and colors and I wish they had more color choices. I am hoping the next collection has a crazy color like blue or green haha (wishful thinking.)
